* Essential oils are not meant to be taken orally. Some possible side effects from taking peppermint extract orally include heartburn, nausea, and vomiting. Choose an extract if you’re adding peppermint oil to food.

* Peppermint essential oil is very concentrated and should always be diluted properly before topical use. 

* Avoid applying peppermint oil to babies and young children (under 5 y/o). Side effects can occur from inhaling the menthol present in peppermint oil.

* Peppermint oil can be toxic to pets

*Peppermint can reduce the absorption of iron when taken simultaneously. If taking iron supplements and peppermint oil, allow at least three hours between the two. 

Keep out of reach of children. If swallowed, seek urgent medical attention or contact a poison control centre. This product is for external use only. Do not take orally. Do not use essential oils undiluted. If you have epilepsy, consult a health care practitioner prior to use. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes; if this happens, rinse with vegetable oil. Do not use it if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. May cause an allergic reaction (e.g. skin rashes, irritation, dermatitis) in which case, discontinue use and consult a health care practitioner. Avoid exposure of applied areas to the sun. Do not use on inflamed skin or dermatitis. For prolonged use, consult a health care practitioner.
